St. Joseph's cluster of parishes which includes our own parish are organising a training course for new eucharistic ministers at the Pastoral Centre, Charlestown on Mondays, March 1st, 8th & 15th 8 -9.30pm with commissioning ceremony on the 22nd. If you would like to nominate someone to be a new eucharistic minister please put their name in an envelope and put into offertory basket or drop it into the parochial house. All existing eucharistic ministers are encouraged to attend the above nights as part of their ongoing formation for their ministry. Parish Pastoral Council meeting on Tuesday last agreed to (a) have expositon of the Blessed Sacrament and silent prayer during the Sundays of Lent, 3pm – 5pm in both churches. A rota will be available in the churches for the next two week-ends for parishioners to sign so that at least two people will be present for each half hour of the Adoration (b) to have two living rosaries one in each church during Lent (c) Tuesday morning mass in Carracastle church will be moved to Tuesday evening at 7.30 during Lent to give an opportunity for workers to attend. First Friday visits from Wed. to Fri.this coming week. Catholic schools week 2010 – All grandparents of the children attending Scoil Iosa are invited to the school on Wed. Feb. 3rd, Feast of St. Blaise at 11am to celebrate catholic schools week. There will be a short prayer service including blessing of the throats followed by light refreshments. St.Brigid's Cross : Thank you to Scoil Iosa pupils/teachers for making crosses/prayer card. Well done to all involved in the Senior Citizens Annual Party & Dinner last Sunday. It was a most enjoyable afternoon for all who attended. Thank you to all who took down trees, cribs and put away Christmas decorations. Band practice for all this Sun. Charlestown Sarsfields G.A.A. Club wish to remind the general public that tickets for the Clubs Dinner Dance will be on sale in The C.B.D. Sports Complex on Friday Feb. 5th between 7pm-8pm. Caiseal Gaels Presentation Evening Mayo Hurlers Keith Higgins and Stephen Hoban will present medals to all U8, U10, U12 & U13's players in Carracastle Hall on Saturday 6th Feb at 6 pm. Players who played in the clubs first ever U14 match will receive a photo of the occasion from Keith and Stephen. Many thanks in advance Annual church gate collection for the Irish Pilgrimage Trust (IHCPT) takes place in all Mayo parish churches on Saturday 30 th and Sunday 31 st of January 2010. The Irish Pilgrimage Trust is a voluntary organisation which brings young people with learning and physical disability and challenging behavioural to Lourdes each Easter. Each group has a designated nurse and doctor. Activities include attending liturgies, going to the baths, the grotto, day outings, music and song. The Irish Hierarchy are patrons of the Trust.There is no fare / charge for the young person who travels. Therefore carers and friends usually help to fundraise during the year in order to bring young people to Lourdes. Carers pay their own fare. Afternoon of Prayer in honour of Our Lady, Queen of Peace in the Church of The Immaculate Conception, Curry on Sun. 7th Feb. 3.00 – 5.00p The Youths Awards Presentations will take place on Sunday January 31st at 5.00pm in the CBD Complex, Charlestown, this will be followed by the Fundraising Raffle Draw. Please ensure that all ticket stubs and unsold tickets are returned. Charlestown Athletic FC AGM takes place in the CBD Complex, Charlestown at 7.00pm on Sunday Feb. 7th.
