Death Notice per Mid West Radio added 1 Aug. John Horkan, 22 Lavey Heights, Charlestown and late of Barroe, Carracastle – peacefully, 1 Aug., at his residence. Reposing at Horkan’s Funeral Home, Charlestown on Monday evening from 5.30pm with removal at 7 o’clock to St. James Church, Carracastle, to arrive at 7.30. Mass on Tuesday at 12 o’clock with the funeral proceeding to St. James Cemetery, Carracastle.

Cemetery Mass - will be next Sunday 2nd August, at 11.30. Envelopes will be distributed to ask your annual contibution toward maintenance. Strimming this week- for the second time. Please use the envelope. Putting loose change into the box is hardly a realistic contribution.
Donations from readers on-line would be very welcome and if posted to Rev. Parish Priest, Carracastle, Ballaghaderreen, Co Roscommon, your donation will be passed on to The Cemetery Committtee.
It costs about 1,500eur for 2 men to cut grass with strimmers, gather & remove cut grass etc. hire of strimmers, petro l& cord. Usually the strimming id done 3 times each year. So an annual cost of 5,000eur. This requires 200 donations of 25eur or 250 donations of 20euro.

The Gospel reading for the next 5 Sundays, from Chapter 6 of St. John, interrupts reading of St. Mark's for Year B. Evagelist John's Chapter 6 portrays Jesus as the Bread of Life, the one who who comes from heaven with the word of life. Starting with the miraculous feeding of the multitude -5 loaves & 2 fish- it proclaims that in Jesus God's power is at work.

' Rooskey First Response' wish to thank all who helped out with their recent fundraising bag-pack in Tesco & Super Valu. Also, to congratulate the 6 people who recently completed their CPR & Defib training- Owen Callaghan, Graham Hawksworth, Michael Killoran, Paul Spencer, Emma Joyce & Ronan Duffy. 6 more volunteers will be trained Aug. 4th. Doocastle Debrillator: from a recent meeting at Kennedy's it was decided to purchsase a Defibrillator for the Doocastle area. Events to raise funds are being planned. The first is a Table Quiz on Fri. 7 Aug. in Kennedy's Lounge. Tables of 4, 40eur. Your support appreciated.

Access Course at St Angela’s College, Sligo is a preparatory course for Higher Education for Young Adults aged 18 -21 years in the BMW Region. The Course is offered on a part-time basis from Sept. to April, two evenings per week & one Saturday per month. On successful completion of the course students receive a Certificate which can be used to gain direct entry into undergraduate programmes at St Angela’s College & at NUI, Galway.
