The method we are using is not like an election- where those with most votes emerge. I have written to people nominated- if they could come to an Introductory Talk this Monday at 8pm, in the Gateway Hotel, Swinford. Fr Pat Farragher, Castlebar, experienced in Parish Pastoral Councils is conducting this informal meeting for the people nominated in all 6 Parishes of our Cluster. Following that, when we'll all know more about what is involved, we will be asking those nominated- from Carracastle & Rooskey- to come for a meeting with a view to 8 or 9 people emerging, to form our Parish Pastoral Council, for a 3 year term. We ask you to pray for the success of the process & for people's willingness to say 'Yes'. Today's Gospel reading connects... It seems to be Jesus' first visit home having begun the Father's mission. Some can't get over the tradesman turned teacher/preacher & his works. Carpenter- rough hands, a lay-man, he was out of his class as rabbi; their put-down question 'Who does he think he is'. Could we be saying that too about people nominated & willing? They distanced themselves from Jesus. He had Good News to share, they were stuck in their mind-set. They disabled the possibility of good to come from him, & of miracle for them- of personal transformation. People have talents but a cool climate does not help them blossom. Important notice re. Usage of School premises & grounds: Allianz Insurance informs B.O.M. that permission may not be given unless people/groups can show that they have their own public liability insurance, which Allianz must verify before the B.O.M. can give permission.
